If you take the train to Sankt Valentin, you can walk (it's not that close but it's ok) to the ramp of the highway. It's not very easy hitchhiking there because cars come from two directions (you cant address them both at the same time) and there isn't much place to stop. A lot of cars passed by, but I think it took 30 min before one stopped. I got a ride directly to St. Pölten (where I had to be).―Anonymous

A Croatian guy picked me up, offered me a spare room where I could sleep and the next morning he drove me to a big gas station.―Anonymous

A lot of traffic, did take some time on a Saturday, but after a while, we found a lift to Passau. A lot of Austrian, Romanian and Hungarian cars.―Anonymous

Nice spot with a lot of space for a car to stop. At some point a police car stopped by and asked if I want to go with them to Vienna―Anonymous

Started at 9am with Linz sign. Lot of traffic, but we waited for more than an hour to get to St Valentin exit.―Dalby

I believe this is the best place to stand, right after the curve and before the highway sign. Cars from both directions can see you. We showed a salzburg sign, but managed to get a best ride that I ever gotten. Swiss millionaire in a sports car taking us all the way to southern Switzerland! Probably very lucky, but still a good spot.―Dalby
